Just as we take the time to clean our houses, our apartments or our cubicles, nature does the same.

After a somewhat mild winter and unusual early spring, mother nature has given us a lovely clean spring view of the monastery grounds.

From budding pine trees to lush lawns…

… to splashes of color from flowers…

…we experience the rich hues of brilliancy that praise the Lord (Ps 148).

Only the Master Artist can do this — and it is done for us. Thanks be to God!

Signs of new life abound everywhere here in Northwest Missouri, meaning Spring has finally arrived – chirping birds, silly squirrels, colorful blossoms and sun-streaked blue skies.

All these are signs of the welcoming of new life.  Lent is almost a memory for this year with Passion Sunday coming quickly followed by Holy Week and the Triduum.

Christ will burst forth from the tomb that could not hold Him.  Life from death: that is the creative cycle of life.  Something gives way for new growth, new life bursting forth from old.

All creation is from God, and God raises it up just as Jesus was raised up “from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it.” (Acts 2:24)
